A loan helped a member to buy more fish for resale and increase his income.


Kisa Self Help Group's story

The person raising his hand in the photo is Joseph of Kisa Self Help Group. He is 68-years-old, married and blessed with three children. He joined Hand in Hand Eastern Africa in 2013.
After taking Hand in Hand Eastern Africa’s training course on enterprise development and financial management, he was able to diversify his business. He now earns a living by selling fish and poultry farming and has increased his income. Joseph is borrowing from Kiva in order to buy more fish for resale. He looks forward to more earnings that will enable him to pay for his family’s food and children's school fees with ease.
Joseph is grateful to Kiva and its lenders and he promises to repay his loan promptly.
