A loan helped an immigrant woman purchase raw materials to launch her jewelry business!

Yaosca's story

I am an immigrant woman, a mother, a wife, and a professional, originally from Nicaragua. At the age of 28, I moved to Colombia after getting married. It was there that I discovered my passion for handmade jewelry. I fell in love with the art of creating unique, handcrafted accessories that help women feel beautiful, confident, and empowered. I learned not only to design but also to value the stories and connection that each piece can carry.

Two years ago, my husband, son, and I moved to the United States in search of better opportunities and a brighter future. The journey has not been easy. I’ve faced challenges such as language barriers, cultural differences, long work hours, and the difficulty of balancing time between work and family. I also experienced harassment at one of the companies I worked for, which was a painful and discouraging experience.

Despite it all, I remain strong and determined. These challenges have only fueled my desire to keep moving forward. I am committed to building a better future for my family and to growing a business that not only supports us financially but also celebrates women, culture, and creativity. Through my work, I want to reflect my journey, my roots, and my dedication to artisanal beauty.
