A loan helped a Female, Minority and Veteran owned business treat people suffering from mental illness in the community.

Amber's story

In 2003, I was deployed overseas in Kosovo as a Medical Logistics Specialist and met a Physician Assistant treating soldiers suffering from mental illness. Observing the benefit to my fellow soldiers I decided to use my undergraduate degree in Biology to apply at The University of Southern California (USC), Keck School of Medicine. I became a Physician Assistant after serving in the United States Army, 1999-2007.

During my time at USC I had the opportunity to study other specialties such as Family Medicine, Pain Management and surgery but Psychiatry continued to pull at my heart strings! After graduating from USC my psychiatry experiences included positions with private institutions, Veterans Health Administration and the Wisconsin state governed institution, Winnebago Mental Health Institute.

I take pride in providing support, compassion, optimism and resilience in clients. I enjoy working on challenging cases specifically related to ADHD, Bipolar and anxiety disorders. Client success is measured by meeting the goal of the client, not the provider. Every client is treated with respect and managed as an individual. I started my mental health practice in the heart of Milwaukee to maintain these values.

This loan is special because:
