A loan helped a Wisconsin-based, Christian auto shop serve Oneida county in their times of need.

Colleen's story

My husband and I started our company, Always Rockwood Auto, shortly after we got married. I had never been in the automotive industry before, but my husband Matthew has been taking cars apart and putting them back together since he was a kid. He often says that engines make sense, even when people don’t. Working in the auto industry for 15 years as a mechanic, he has gained so much experience and learned so much. He loved being a mechanic but, as Christians, we both couldn’t reconcile ourselves with the predatory practices of the industry. Many auto shops will overcharge for services, especially when customers don’t understand what is broken in their car. This has become more prevalent due to the production of increasingly complicated cars, especially the computer programs inside of them.

We know all too well that cars are huge part of our lives, you need a car to: get to work and bring money home, go to the doctor’s office, take kids to school. When cars break, they cause havoc in our lives, especially when money is already tight. We started our own shop so that people can get their cars serviced without breaking the bank. There is nothing I love more than seeing the relieved faces when I say I can fix their car, and even better when they know they’ll be able to afford it.

This loan is special because:
