A loan helped a nurse and single mom infuse sauna culture and community into southwest Wisconsin.

Jaclyn's story

After growing up in rural, northern Wisconsin, I traveled to Europe as a foreign exchange student. It is here I was first introduced to sauna. After a magical “saunadorf” experience with my host family, I knew sauna would remain a part of my life in some capacity. I’ve always been passionate about health and wellness, making exercise, spirituality, healthy eating, and being in nature priorities . I grew up as the daughter of a nurse. I knew I, like my mom, wanted to grow up to help people so I became a nurse myself.
After being very fulfilled and passionate about nursing for quite some time, a pandemic coupled with a staffing crisis have emphasized the already evident cracks in the American healthcare system, burnt me out as a nurse, and made me realize the harm my career does to my physical and emotional well being. It is a desire of mine to lead people to wellness rather than only away from sickness.
I’ve investigated sauna entrepreneurship as a career thanks to the mentorship of a successful sauna company as well as a community of sauna enthusiasts I’ve surrounded myself with. I’m so passionate about infusing the sauna culture into my direct neighborhood and surrounding areas by curating high quality sauna experiences that undoubtedly bring folks closer to wellness and community. By hosting private sessions, group sessions and community events I hope to reach a variety of different individuals, giving them a place to fit in, to be well, to slow down, and to come together.
