A loan helped a Madison fitness center acquire squat racks, airbikes, rowers & weights to be a full service gym.

Adams's story

As a kid, I always looked to physical activity for a scapegoat. Born into a impoverished background, we faced a lot of trauma and violence as kids as my biological mom struggled with substance abuse and other things until her passing when I was 8. During my short time with her I was in foster care with my now adopted parents. My dad loved sports as well and taught me much of what I know about weight lifting and football. It has always been a dream of mine to own a gym, not just work for one. I want to create a space that helps people gain a solid foundation for weight training. I have learned that just because you do much of something, isn't the same as doing it right. I spent a lot of my weightlifting career self taught and found myself doing things wrong for years until I found a personal trainer. I want to offer that same opportunity to people who might otherwise not have access. I am also a Mental health professional and am interested in simultaneously giving people the skills to have access to holistic wellbeing. The mind plays a tremendous role in being comfortable and confident in ones own body and I want to share those expertise with the world! I believe Vantablack Fitness would be an excellent opportunity to invite people in and show them what they might not think they are capable of in mind and physical fitness. I am planning to take every chance of this process to grow as well as create healthy relationships with the people in my community. My goal is to provide a space were everyone feels empowered and has a sense of belonging. Thank you for your investment in me.
