I'm an amputee above the knee; it will be 9 years in October 2022. I started this business in 2010 after years of research, tons of phone calls, and emails. People still don't see me as a person, let alone a fully functioning person. When I was a child, we didn't have many funds to purchase fun things to do. So we made our own. I would make kites with household items, and the children in our neighborhood would fly them. Life happenings came, as did my children. So I had to let go of this. But, I promised myself that I'd get back into flying and re-introduce it to others. I do and can still operate a business and my household both successfully.
What motivates me the most is Kites are bringing families back to the basics of life-doing outdoor activities together. Teaching all that you can still have laughter, togetherness, and happy times even amid adversity.

This business is a mobile retail store. Traveling by cargo bike to areas (parks, downtown area, beaches, and boat harbors.) in my home city of Kenosha, WI. We sell kites of various styles, sizes, and colors; we sell kites for most age groups and accessories. The kites will provide hours of entertainment for individuals, families, and children. It will provide and bring back a simpler time in life for many and start new traditions for others. Kiting will help build togetherness, active activities away from technology game systems. Getting people back outside in fresh air and sunshine.
Ade's Kites will also operate an online website and connect with a business profile on social media sites. Shipping purchased products via USPS. We will also sell a locally grown product Loofah, that I will grow, harvest, clean and cut myself. This item can produce hundreds of vegetation, and one of the reasons for needing to hire someone to assist with this part of the business and selling of all products.
This business will show many people that having a limb loss doesn't define me as a person, nor does it take away from my human business-oriented mindset.
What is the purpose of this loan?
I'm applying for this loan to obtain my goal to open a business and enhance it. By purchasing a cargo bike, I can ride to various areas that I know to have huge people trafficked areas, where I can set a kite up in the air to draw people in and convince them to purchase.
Ade's Kites, rewards from this impact will increase sales, get word-of-mouth out about Ade's Kites, as well as people seeing the logo on the bike. This will help to draw people in and buy products. The Loofahs are a wonderful enhancer to attract females. I will have printouts of all the useful things to use a loofah for and the care of the sponges. In the future, I want to build a birthday club and new users for both product line items.
