Shani's story

Hello, my name is Shani and I am a first generation Jamaican-American who was born and raised in San Francisco, CA and the owner of Peaches Patties: A Jamaican Kitchen. I grew up watching my Mom, “Peaches” create Jamaican dishes for our family. I learned all of my cooking skills from my mother and grandmother. About 3 years ago I decided to share my mother’s legacy of cooking with the Bay Area. I am diligently working on growing my business in addition to finishing my doctorate degree. My dissertation is titled, "Family Restaurant Succession in San Francisco: A Phenomenological Study". With the high demand for Jamaican food in San Francisco and the tremendous growth of my business, I hope to expand my business into a brick-and-mortar location one day.

This loan is special because:

It supports a community-focused chef looking to reach more customers with her Jamaican delicacies.
