Ashley's story

Born and raised in Wisconsin, I have been baking since I was a child. Some of my favorite childhood memories were when I was in my Grammy's kitchen helping her bake cookies and cakes, and stealing sugar by the spoon full from her sugar drawer. Learning from my Grammy, I started to explore baking a variety of goodies and creating recipes of my own.

I started to create my own recipes around the age of 7. Unknown to my parents at the time, I was being bullied at school, so in order to avoid school, I would fake being sick and convince my mother I needed to stay home. While I was at home, I put my idol hands to work in the kitchen creating sweet treats to have for my parents and sister when they returned home. They soon caught on that I was indeed not sick, but avoiding going to school because of the bullying. Fast forwarding many years, I have realized that baking for me is an outlet of emotion, whether I am happy or sad, angry or elated, I LOVE to bake.

After high school, knowing I was not interested in going the conventional college route, I took some time to figure out what I really wanted to pursue. I soon found myself enrolled in an accelerated massage therapy school. Spending my first 2 years after school in the spa industry, I quickly found that although I worked well with others, I would be more successful as my own boss. As the highest grossing therapist at the club I decided to take the leap, resign from my job, and go out on my own. I ran my own massage therapy business for 8 years. I found that I worked half the amount of hours to make the same wages as when I was employed. I was becoming bored. I soon started bartending, managing a friend's boutique shoe store, dabbling in real estate and nannying in addition to my massage business. Never a stranger to hard work, I always kept myself busy, whether it was at work or exploring new recipes in the kitchen.

Having achieved my goal of opening my bakery, I feel happiest when I am able to bake and provide delicious treats for family, friends and customers. Working in my bakery each day is a dream come true. I am honored to provide a sweet addition to a customer's day or special life milestone. As I never stay idol too long, I am working on plans for the expansion of the bakery and pursuing business opportunities in the wedding and event industry.
