A loan helped a member to buy fertilizer and certified seeds to boost her farm produce.


Nyumba Moja Self Help Group's story

The lady raising her hand in the photo is Grace, a member of Nyumba Moja self help group. She is 41 years old, married, and a mother of five children. She joined Hand in Hand Eastern Africa in 2014 to benefit from the training on enterprise development and financial management.

She does vegetable farming in potatoes, kale, cabbages and carrots. She is borrowing a Kiva loan to buy fertilizer and certified seeds to boost her farm produce, hence an increase in income. She intends to use the additional income to provide better food for her family and pay school fees for her children.

She is grateful to Kiva and their lenders for the support, and promises to repay her loan promptly.
