The gentleman raising his hand in this photo is John. He is married and is the father of two children. He is a member of Thika Jikwamue Self Help Group, which joined Hand in Hand Eastern Africa (HIHEA) in the year 2013, and has benefited from enterprise development and financial management training.

He operates a motorbike. He is borrowing a Kiva loan to buy spare parts for his motorbike so as to improve its efficiency. He hopes this will increase his income, which he will use to provide food for his family and pay school fees for his children.
