Thika Jikwamue Self Help Group's story

The person raising his hand in this photo is John. He is married and the father of two children. He is a member of Thika Jikwamue Self Help Group, which joined Hand in Hand Eastern Africa (HIHEA) in 2013 and has benefited from enterprise development and financial management training.

He operates a motorbike. He is borrowing a Kiva loan to buy spare parts for his motorbike. He hopes this will improve efficiency, hence increasing his income. He will therefore use the increased income to provide food for his family and pay school fees for his children.
