The lady raising her hand in the photo is Rebeca. She is 62 years old, married, and a mother of two children. She is a member of Sakawa Community Based Organization F.F.S, which joined Hand in Hand Eastern Africa (HiH-EA) in the year 2015. She has successfully undergone enterprise development and financial management training. She does farming of maize, beans, bananas and courgettes.
She is borrowing a Kiva loan to buy fertilizer and seedlings so as to boost her output, and hence increase income. She will therefore use the anticipated income to provide food and clothing to her family and pay school fees for her children. She is grateful to Kiva and their lenders and promises to repay on time.
