Partner Description:
Turkish Grameen Microfinance Program (TGMP) is a non-profit microfinance organization focused on supporting women in Turkey. TGMP especially targets rural parts of the country which are not served by formal financial institutions. In addition to serving Turkish women, TGMP has expanded their efforts to reach Syrian refugees who have fled the war in their home country and settled in Turkey.
A unique lending approach:
TGMP uses a group lending model to reach some of the most underserved women in Turkey. With refugees largely lacking economic opportunity, TGMP is one of the few organizations willing to serve them. The partnership with Kiva will allow them to scale their support to Syrian refugees while also reaching more Turkish women who are looking to start or grow their small business.
