Bobgu Nyagsa - Kukuo Ghanasco Group's story

Ayi is a 40-year-old hard working woman from Kukuo in the Northern region of Ghana. Ayi is married and has 4 children. Ayi is the individual pictured standing at theright in the back with her hand raised in the photo.

Ayi is a member of a parboiled rice processing group that has been in business for the past 6 years. The name of the group is Bobgu Nyagsa-Kukuo Ghanasco. She earns a good profit from the business simply because the group has been trained by Grameen Ghana on how to process high quality parboiled rice for the Ghanaian markets. Ayi also supplements her income from peanut oil extraction to supply the community market. She is assisted in this business by six temporary employees.

Ayi and Bobgu Nyagsa-Kukuo Ghanasco group have asked for a loan of GHC 14,000. Ayi's share of the loan is GHS 500.00 which she would use to buy paddy rice from local rice farmers for processing. Ayi aspires to produce in large quantities in future and earn more income, as well as to repay this loan. and support her family with food, health care and education.
