Istatoy is a 35-year-old resident of the Shahrinav region. She does hand embroidery (pillowcases with embroidered decoration) and other traditional crafts. She learned these skills from her mother when she was a young woman. "Embroidery is time-consuming work and needs full commitment." Istatoy says that a woman without a craft is like a tree without seeds. "And in order to learn a craft well, you have to love what you are doing."
Istatoy does embroidery for herself, for her family and for her customers, who are local residents. She is almost always busy with her embroidery and with raising her four children. She succeeds at everything. She is looking for a loan to buy more fabric for gold embroidery and other sewing supplies.
