A loan helped a member to buy two cows.

Maye's Group's story

This group of seven women makes up a part of the banc villageois which was established in November 2009. The women in the group share solidarity and are very dynamic. They also all live in the same village and work primarily in livestock farming.

Sizanne, who is standing on the right of the photo with her left hand raised, is the featured borrower. She is 53 years old, married, and is the mother of six sons and two daughters. She works raising livestock.

With her loan, she plans to buy two cows at 200,000 francs CFA each. After she raises them, she will resell the cows for 300,000 francs CFA each. She also pays 10,000 francs CFA for the transport costs, and 50,000 francs CFA of her own money will go towards feed and veterinary care.

With the earnings, Sizanne plans to help her sons who are in college by covering their tuition and also saving some money in the banc villageois.

In this group: Maye, Tenning, Fatou, Sizanne, Oumy, Diouma, Ndeye
