In the area known as Estancia Vieja, in the Colon parish, Portoviejo city, is where the community bank Estancia Vieja meet every two weeks. This a town of humble people dedicated to agriculture and trade in general.
This is where Angela lives. She is 49 years old and lives in a common law relationship from which she has two grown children who are independent. The husband is a craftsman.
Doña Angela, along with her husband, works as craft people.
They buy cow skins which are then processed and tanned with certain special liquids. They make these into leather which is then made into reins for horses, tail belts, muzzles, saddles and other work they do in leather to decorate the horses.
They make these products and then deliver them to dealers that bring them to other cities and other countries to sell.
Her husband has been working in this activity for over 30 years and this is the way in which they have earned a living.
This loan is to purchase leather, dyes and many other materials to make their products.
She has been a member of the community bank from the start and likes it because this is how they are able to move forward.
Her dreams are to be in good health.
