A loan helped to buy cases of beer and soft drinks.

Carlos Ramón's story

Carlos is a resident of a working-class neighborhood in Barranquilla, a town on the Atlantic coast, where the community is very open to entertainment and dance. In his home, Carlos has a sound system that he used on weekends to listen to traditional music, and his neighborhood enjoyed it. His wife had always wanted to start a business, and proposed that they begin to sell beers and soft drinks in their home, capitalizing on the collection of customers attracted by the music on the weekends. So they bought a refrigerator with a large capacity to store beers, soft drinks, Pony Maltas (a popular malt soft drink), natural juices and fruit ice pops.

Currently he is applying for a loan, his first Kiva loan financed through the Mario Santo Domingo Foundation, to buy cases of beer and soft drinks to stock up, given that in the last trimester of the year, his sales increase. Carlos hopes to continue his business and expand it in order to offer a better quality of life to his family.
