This water and sanitation loan was created to improve the living standards of communities in El Salvador.
This loan will be administered by FUSAI, a Salvadoran NGO that owns Kiva Field Partner Apoyo Integral. FUSAI will disburse this loan in order to reach a population that doesn't currently work with Apoyo Integral. Borrowers come from low-income families and are considered to be too poor or lack the proper guarantees to get credit through traditional banks or microfinance institutions. Before receiving their loans, FUSAI borrowers are vetted by local community organizations and enrolled in classes on financial literacy, and the importance of sanitation, potable water and clean energy.
By partnering with Kiva, FUSAI helps clients access key resources to build and install latrines, septic tanks, sinks, well pumps and have access to reliable water thanks to water filters and water tanks to store it. By funding this loan, you are playing an important role in helping Salvadorian communities protect themselves from diseases, improving and strengthening their emotional and physical living conditions.
