A loan helped a member to pay the cost of labor during hoeing and the harvest, and to purchase fertilizer and phytosanitary products.

Vie Nouvelle Group's story

Jacques has been a rice farmer since 2009, work he committed to while preparing for his wedding, assisted by his family and friends. During the last harvest, Jacques earned $200 against $60 [spent] in operating costs. Insufficient water in the fields and the havoc wreaked by hippos are the major obstacles Jacques faces.

The assistance Jacques will receive through this loan will fill him with joy, because it will make it easier to manage some of the tasks associated with his business. With hope for the advancement of his work, Jacques will be able to expand his field, diversify his seeds and obtain crops [that are equally productive] in quantity as in quality. Consequently, his income will increase, [providing] for an assured future and the education of his children. Jacques is the leader of Vie Nouvelle [New Life] Group; in the photo, he is [the one] holding a notebook.
