A loan helped to buy diesel fuel for his farm equipment and fodder for his cattle.

Arkadik's story

Arkadik is thirty years old, and he lives with his wife and three children, two daughters and a son, in the village of Tsaghkunk in the Gegharkunik region of Armenia. He works at a private company, but his main occupation is farming through which he manages to sustain his family’s needs.

On his farm Arkadik has cows, calves, heifers, sheep and a lot of chickens. His wife takes care of their family and their house perfectly. She not only helps her husband around the farm but also makes very tasty cheese, curd and macun (a sweet paste and national dairy product) from their cows’ milk to sell. From his farm Arkadik also sells meat, eggs, potatoes and carrots.

With this loan of 700,000 AMD through Kiva's field partner Nor Horizon Arkadik will buy diesel fuel for his farm equipment and fodder for his cattle. As he says, he finds farming to be a perfect way to have fresh food for his family and a good source of income.
