A loan helped buy a moto-car to transport her products.

Damaris's story

Damaris is 28 years old and is pregnant. She lives with her husband and a son in her own home. She has a small soft drink distribution company and sells her products to a variety of general stores and bars in her neighborhood. She has been doing this work for the past 15 years and she counts on the help of her husband, who manages the business. She likes her work because it lets her make a good income and this helps her give a better quality of life to her children. In the future she would like to buy a cooler to sell large quantities to the fishermen, who would be her principal clients, as she is very close to the river port. This is the first time she has received a loan from Kiva partner MFP (Microfinanzas PRISMA), and she has high expectations because of her work with the communal banking representative. She will buy a moto-car with this loan, which will cost 4000 soles (about $1,220), and she will use the money from this loan and money she has saved for this purpose to buy it. She needs this mobility, as it will help her transport her merchandise.
