A loan helped to build a shop, install flooring, and purchase sweets.

Rosa Violeta's story

Rosa is a member of the San Judas Tadeo Community Bank. She is a 38-year-old single mother of a 5-year-old girl who attends school. Rosa's business is selling sweets from her aunt's home. She studied to be a nursing technician, and practiced for a while, but it is a very difficult job. So, she began working in a cafeteria and enjoyed working there for three years. Currently, Rosa cleans houses and is building a shop in her home.

Rosa would like a loan for 2,400 Peruvian nuevos soles (US $750). She will use the money to build a shop, install flooring, and purchase sweets. With her savings and previous loans from Kiva's partner FINCA Peru, she has purchased shelving.

Rosa is grateful for her association with the community bank. She feels more secure because she has working capital, and watching other women take initiative in their businesses has increased her own enthusiasm. She knows that she has the opportunity to get ahead.

Rosa's dream is to one day sell gas canisters from her home.
