Elika's Group consists of 11 farmers in Butere District and is being represented by Elika, who is the group leader pictured above. She is 32 years old, is married and has four children. Elika has been a farmer for 11 years and is often referred to as a very resourceful person.
Elika isn’t new to One Acre Fund; she actually joined the program in 2014, and has since noticed her life has changed, especially in the sense that she has learned a lot from farm training.
This year, Elika will not only get fertilizer and maize seeds as part of her loan, but will also purchase two solar lights. She is very excited about this addition since now she will be able to have light during the night in order to feel safer.
Using this loan, Elika's Group will purchase a total of eight solar lights and use the farming supplies received to plant a total of 5.25 acres.
