Lukiya's story

Lukiya is married with five children, only one of whom goes to school. She does not take care of additional family members. She has a business of selling used clothes and has been in this business for 11 years.

She has applied for a loan of 2,000,000 Uganda shillings from MCDT-SACCO to buy more bales of used clothing. She generates additional income through rental rooms. She moves door to door selling used clothes and sells to all categories of people on a retail basis, six days a week.

Her major business challenges include seasonality and defaulters. She aspires to get permanent business premises and also to start farming. She resides in the family house, and the family has access to electricity and piped water. Her monthly expenses include school fees and food.
