A loan helped to pay for her annual memberships with the two other insurance providers, and to cover her marketing workshop dues in New York.

Sherry Lynn's story

A passionate business woman, Sherry got her start in the used car industry more than 15 years ago. Her car lot was very successful but unfortunately, she was forced to close because of the introduction of the Cash for Clunkers program, which directed almost all car buyers directly to the dealerships.

It was then that Sherry decided to open her own insurance agency. She has been selling insurance successfully for nearly five years, and recently was able to move her offices to a very visible location and hire a part-time marketer and an intern.

Even though Sherry has been successful, she would like to expand her client base and has gotten permission to sell automotive policies for two other providers. She would also like to attend a marketing workshop in New York, to which she was invited by Farmers Insurance to learn new techniques.

Sherry will use the loan proceeds to pay for her annual memberships with the two other insurance providers, and to cover her marketing workshop dues in New York.

Over the past year, Sherry has been very happy with the growth she has experienced. By relocating her office to a much more visible location, she is getting more walk-ins, and with the new purchase of the book of business, her revenues should almost double. Sherry feels much more comfortable in this field and wants Kiva lenders to know how excited she is about the future of her business.
