A loan helped a member to buy used clothing for resale.

Grande Dame Group's story

The six members of the group Grande Dame are married women who all live in polygamous households in Daoudabougou, a district of Bamako. They average 31 years of age and four children each, and they know one another as neighbors, through ties of kinship, and through their income-generating activities. They sell clothing, condiments and cereals.

In order to build their inventory, the group members decided to join the Soro Yiriwaso microfinance institution. This is their first group loan cycle.
Mrs. Fatoumata (sitting 2nd from the right in the group photo) is a successful reseller of clothing. She will use her loan to buy two bales of used clothing. She buys her merchandise in Médine and retails it in Daoudabougou, cash or credit, to a clientele consisting mainly of women.

With this loan, Mrs. Fatoumata expects to earn an average monthly profit of 30,000FCFA, which she will use to provide for her children’s healthcare.

Her goal is to bolster her activity through this partnership with Soro Yiriwaso.
