Dauda is a professional tailor based in Ishaka town, located in Bushenyi district in Uganda. He is a member of Honest Group, age 62 years, and has been in this business since he was a teenager.
He started borrowing from UGAFODE Microfinance in the year 2009, with the amount of 200,000 ugsh and has been graduating since then up to this time, when he is requesting a loan through the group. (600,000 shillings only). He is married, and a father of 12; 4 of these are in school and 8 of them are now out of school and doing their own businesses. He looks after a total of four orphans who lost their both parents.
He started his business in the year 1972, and works 10 hours on a normal working day. But when he has orders, he works for 14 hours to meet the deadlines of his clients, who are mostly Ishaka town people.
He begun this business to build his own life, and have a better life for his family and himself. He is taking this loan to buy more cloth materials since his clients had ordered kinyankole suits. He hopes to build a clothing store where he wants to train more young people in the tailoring business, like he is doing now using the small space that he has. He is challenged by creditors and debtors.
He thanks UGAFODE Microfinance so much for supporting him in his business, the rising of his children in terms of school fees, and his family at large.
