Siguidia 1 Group's story

The members of the group SIGUIDIA 1 are married women who average 39 years of age and 4 children each. They all live in polygamous families in SEBLE, a commune of KADIANA in the KOLONDIEBA circle, a prefecture of the 3rd administrative region of Mali.

They joined the microfinance institution Soro Yiriwaso to sustain their farming activities during the rainy season, and this is their 5th time partnering with the MFI. All past loans were correctly repaid.

Mamakan grows groundnuts and rice. She is the member standing 1st from the left in the group photo. She will use her loan to buy inputs and seeds, and to pay for the plowing needed to maintain 3 hectares of farmland.

After the harvest, the crops will be sold at the market to a clientele consisting of both men and women.

Mamakan expects to earn a profit of 100,000 FCFA, which she will use to repay her loan and to help her husband with the family’s day-to-day expenses.
