A loan helped a member to buy wool in bulk.

Bautistas Del Milenio Group's story

The Communal Bank “Bautistas del Milenio” (Baptists of the Millenium) is starting its fifth loan cycle with Pro Mujer as part of the Panamericana Community Center. This group consists of eight members and is led by a Board of Directors in which Sra. Gladys is the president. The members of this Communal Bank engage in different businesses such as providing mini-bus services, providing construction services, weaving sweaters, weaving blankets, selling vegetables, providing cooking services, and selling hamburgers.

This loan will benefit small entrepreneurs such as Sra. Gladys. She says that she joined Pro Mujer three years ago after receiving an invitation from a promoter from the organization who visited her at her house. Gladys currently has a business in which she weaves blankets. She learned her weaving techniques several years ago at a club for mothers. Since that time, she decided to establish this business with a limited amount of capital.

The loan she is receiving now will be used to increase her capita for buying wool in bulk. She acquires her supplies at the fairs in the city of El Alto and then produces and sells her products from her retail space. Working in this manner enables her to generate income to support her family. Gladys is married and has a daughter.

When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, Gladys said that she enjoys the health services offered by the organization.

In this group: Gladys, Lucia , Santusa, Elizabeth, Monica Rosa , Lorenza, Justina , Justina
