Sedress's story

Sedress is 34 years old and lives in the town of Kasese in the Fortportal region of Uganda. She is married and has 2 children who are both currently in school. For the past 10 years, Sedress has been working hard to manage her retail shop, which sells cooking oil, basins, jerricans, cups and plates, detergent, juice, Vaseline, sweets, curry powder and other items.

To help expand her business, Sedress has requested a loan of 2,500,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more cooking oil, basins, jerricans, cups and plates, detergent, juice, Vaseline, sweets, curry powder and other items, and will help Sedress to generate greater profits and increase on stock. Sedress hopes that in the future she will be able to become a supplier.

Sedress is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Sedress who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
