A loan helped to pay for 4 oxen and potato seeds.

Larisa's story

Larisa lives with her husband, son and daughter in Mets Parni village. Her elder son serves in the army. Her husband and son are construction and seasonal migrant workers in a neighboring country. Larisa runs a farm to help tackle financial hardship. She keeps livestock (cows, 2 pigs and chickens) and cultivates wheat, potato and beet. The gathered harvest Larisa sells in the nearby open markets and gathers income which is very important for the family's living. Larisa applied for this loan to be able to purchase 4 oxen and potato seeds for cultivation. This will enable her to enlarge her farming activities and gather more income for her family.

As this is Larisa's first loan, it has been approved within the framework of the new joint initiative between Kiva and SEF. The first-chance loan program provides loans to people who didn’t have access to credit products in the past because they have no credit history.
