Mariam O. B. was born December 31, 1966 in Sokodé in central Togo. She is married to a struggling mechanic and is the mother of six children. Mariam is nearly the sole support of her family since her husband cannot count on a regular paycheck. Her primary field of endeavor is the supply of rice to her neighborhood. She began this business in 2002 and earns an adequate income providing good service to her many customers. This, the first loan she has requested, would permit her to buy ten sacks of rice and six drums of vegetable oil.
