A loan helped to build a household latrine and buy related necessities.

Yeoun's story

Yeoun, aged 35, is an experienced farmer from a rural village in the Baray district of Kampong Thom province. She lives with her husband and child in their own home. With the help of her husband, Yeoun is engaged in the cultivation of rice, yams and other seasonal crops. In each harvest season, local traders always come to the village to buy agricultural products from local villagers. Agribusiness is the sole source of the family's income. Since she doesn't have a safe latrine for use at home, she is unable to help her family members improve their sanitation and personal hygiene. Therefore she has requested a loan of US$560 to build a household latrine and buy its necessaries. The water loan program offered by HKL with a special interest rate has helped to encourage Yeoun to focus on ensuring healthy living conditions to safeguard the health of her family and protect the environment.
