A loan helped to buy concentrated feed and chicks to raise.

Claudia Lourdes's story

Claudia is 26 years old and studied as far as eighth grade. She stopped studying because she had to help her mother in the business, since she is a single mother and it was difficult for her to support the family without help from someone else. Claudia is in a relationship and her partner makes a living washing cars, which is his main source of income. Claudia's mother, her two sisters and their two children live with them. Claudia works in business, specifically in fattening chickens. She is responsible for rearing and fattening them and her mother sells them on her stall in the town's market. Claudia has the chicken farm at her home but has to travel 4 km to the market to sell them. She has been running businesses for several years but has only been running the chicken fattening business for 3 years.

Claudia needs the loan to make a fresh investment, buying concentrated feed and chicks to rear, since she has just finished the last production which she had and she wants to fatten 500 chickens. This means she will be increasing the quantity above what she has worked with in the past. She is doing this because the Christmas season is approaching and there is a high demand for chickens. She wants to make the most of the opportunity which presents itself.

Claudia wants to establish a staggered production so that she always has chickens available to sell. She wants to be able to support herself solely with the income from this business.
