Joyce's story

Joyce is married with one child, and her child doesn’t go to school. She also takes care of an additional family member (her sister’s child). She has a business making jewelry.

She has applied for a loan of 400,000 Uganda shillings from MCDT-SACCO to buy more raw materials for making jewelry. She has been in this business for three years. She works in a shop six days out of every week, and sells to all categories of people on a retail basis. Her major business challenges include transportation and lack of sufficient market. She aspires to owning a big factory making jewelry.

She resides in a rented house, and the family has access to electricity and piped water. Her monthly expenses include rent and school fees for her sister's child.
