Rose's story

Rose is married with seven children, of whom three go to school. She also takes care of additional family members, her grand children.

She has a business of a retail shop and has been in this business for 5 years. She has applied for a loan of 1,000,000 Uganda shillings (UGX) from MCDTSACCO to buy more bags of sugar, cartons of salt, boxes of soap, and jerrycans of cooking oil.

Rose works in her shop six days out of every week and sells on retail basis only. She generates additional income through tailoring. Her major business challenges include seasonality, transportation, and defaulters. She aspires to own a fully stocked retail shop and also to build rental rooms.

She resides in a rented house in which the family has access to electricity and piped water. Her monthly expenses include school fees, rent, and food for the family.
