Wara's story

Greetings from Sierra Leone! This is 40-year-old Wara from Tombo, Western rural area in Freetown. She is a married mother and blessed with three children between the ages of 10 years and 22 years. Two of her children attend school. She also has one of her relatives helping her to prepare the cookery.

Wara runs a cookery business at home; she sells rice and pure water. She has been running this business since 2008. She works at the business ten hours per day and six days per week. Wara says that the main challenge to her business is sometimes if the food is not finished, she will run at a loss.

Wara has requested a loan in order to buy more cooking items like rice, palm oil and cooking seasoning. The extra income from this loan will allow her to educate her children and renovate her house.

In the future, she plans to open a big restaurant. She thanks you for your support!
