Umu's story

Umu is 35 years old and married with two children, ages five and 12. For the past eight years, she has sold plastic and rubber shoes and slippers at a busy market in Kuland town in the southern area of Bo, Sierra Leone. Umu's husband is also a businessman and he helps her support the family and run the business. Her major business challenge is that the road network to her area of operations is very poor.

Uma is requesting a loan through BRAC Sierra Leone to buy a variety of rubber slippers and shoes to increase her inventory. The extra income from her loan will help improve her life and her family's well being. In the future, Uma would like to see her business grow and she would like to have a big house and become rich.
