A loan helped to increase her inventory to wholesale.

Mega's story

Mega is 35 years old and lives in the town of Ggaba in the Kampala South region of Uganda. She is single and has 3 children, two of whom are currently in school. For the past 5 years, Mega has been working hard to manage her retail shop where she sells all essential commodities.

To help expand her business, Mega has requested a loan of 2000000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to increase her inventory to wholesale, and will help Mega to generate greater profits through increased sales. Mega hopes that in the future she will be able to have a wholesale shop.

Mega is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Mega who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans but who have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
