A loan helped to buy raw materials to increase his production.

Javier's story

Javier is 52 years old and lives in the town of Galapa with his spouse. They have three children aged 12 to 25. He makes hair curlers out of metal mesh; he started this business because it was his spouse's family tradition, and now all the members of his family work with him. He sells his product in shops of the town of Barranquilla, in Maicao, in Riohacha and in Santa Marta, and this is his primary source of income. Javier's goal is to improve his house and to better organise his business, because he wants it to grow. He also wants to improve, day after day, the standard of living of his family. The main challenge for his business is to secure enough funds to ensure smooth growth; this is why he asks for a loan with Kiva. It is his first loan with field partner Fundación Mario Santo Domingo. He will use the money to buy raw materials to produce a greater quantity of metal hair curlers. He is confident that this investment will be a success because he has many customers already and because his family has the experience and willingness to work necessary to effective growth.
