A loan helped to purchase a motorbike and fish feed.

Sarom's story

Sarom and her husband live in a village about 25 kilometers from Phnom Penh City. They have been married since 2002 and have two daughters.

Sarom is a lotus farmer who transports her crop to sell at the market. Her husband, Voeun, is a fisherman and assists his wife in her farming. In addition, the couple also raise fish at home to sell.

In the past Sarom had taken a loan through Kiva to purchase a motorbike. However, she was only able to afford a secondhand motorbike that was old and didn’t work well, so Sarom sold it. She is now asking for another loan to add to her proceeds from selling her old motorbike in order to purchase a new one. She will also use a part of the loan to buy fish feed.
