A loan helped to buy electric stoves, plates, and chairs for her customers.

Eunice's story

Eunice is 17 years old and lives in the town of Seeta in the Mukono region of Uganda. For the past 2 years, Eunice has been working hard to manage her catering business, which delivers hot meals to local families and businesses.

To help expand her business, Eunice has requested a loan of 400,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy electric stoves, plates, and chairs for her customers, and will help Eunice to generate greater profits and help her siblings go to school. Eunice hopes that in the future she will be able to become a medical doctor.

Eunice is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to microfinance loans, the program provides both a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities, and a forum for life-skills training. The ELA program has increased Eunice's future prospects by teaching her how to save money.
