Sakum's story

Sakum, 57, is a field hand on area farms. Her husband, Lun, is a 59-year-old construction worker. They have been married since 1979 and one son and one daughter; one of their children is married and lives away from home, the other one is a garment worker. Sakum and Lun live in a village along National Road Number One, about 17 kilometers from Phnom Penh, Cambodia's capital. Sakum is asking for a loan of $1,200 to expand her family's house, and to replace support pillars in the house.
