A loan helped to buy raw materials to grow her hammock-weaving business.

Wilai's story

Wilai lives in rural Northern Thailand with her husband and seven children. For years, her family relied primarily on subsistence farming, where unpredictable crop prices and seasonal gaps in income made it difficult to stay financially secure.

With a young child at home, Wilai needed work she could do safely and flexibly. Hammock weaving became that opportunity. Working from home as an artisan weaver, she is able to care for her children while earning steady income to cover groceries, utilities, school transportation and education expenses.

Wilai says weaving has done exactly what she hoped it would: provide reliable support for her family. With this loan, she will invest in yarn and materials to ensure consistent work throughout the coming year and continue strengthening her household’s stability.

This loan is special because:

It creates employment opportunities for vulnerable populations living in remote rural areas.
