A loan helped to purchase more bags of charcoal to increase her business.

Alimatu's story

Greetings from Sierra Leone! This is 35-year-old Alimatau from Grassfield Branch. She is a married businesswoman with four children between the ages of two and 18 years old. Three are currently attending school. She started this business to support her family.

Alimatu runs a retail business in which she sells charcoal to her customers around the communities. She has been in this business for the past 10 years. Alimatau says that her challenge is the increase in the cost of transportation in the country.

She requested this loan through BRAC Sierra Leone to purchase more bags of charcoal to increase her business. Alimatu says that the extra income from this loan will help to support her family. In the future, she would like to expand to a large scale. She says thanks to BRAC and Kiva for their support.
