Nassuna's story

Nassuna is 34 years old. She lives in the town of Njeru in the Njeru region of Uganda. She is married and has two children who are both currently in school. For the past five years, Nassuna has been working hard to manage her boutique, which sells clothes. To help expand her business, Nassuna has requested a loan of 3,500,000 Ugandan shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more clothes for sale. This will help Nassuna to generate greater profits, and she will be able to expand her business. Nassuna hopes that in the future she will be able to construct rentals.
Nassuna is a member of BRAC's microfinance program. The program primarily serves small-group members like Nassuna who do not have collateral for commercial loans but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
