Suong is a married woman living with her six-member family in a remote commune of Dien Bien province, Vietnam. Her childhood was associated with hardship and deprivation, and she dropped out of school at the primary level because her family could not afford to send her any longer.
Suong has been farming since she was a child. She continues to do so with her husband and two children as the main source of family income. Her agricultural activities are diverse and include growing rice, maize and cassava, and raising cattle, fish and poultry.
Suong has been rearing buffalo and fish for years, and she wants to expand her husbandry business by buying one more buffalo and fish. Profits from this investment will allow her to repair her house and cover tuition fees for her children.
She hopes all of her efforts will help her family have a more prosperous life. In this photo, she is standing on the right. Thank you, Kiva lenders, for this support.
