A loan helped to buy seeds, fertiliser, compost, and a cow.

Delia Maria's story

Delia lives in the south of Chimborazo province, in the village of Naubug, in a humble house with roof tiles and brick walls, together with her husband and children. The latter are still underage and attend the local state-run school. Delia and her husband work in a farm everyday, either their own or other people's, as they also work as day labourers. They have their own business rearing milk cattle, just three cows at the moment, but they would like to have more. For this, Delia needs a loan from the field partner, Visionfund Ecuador, which empowers small entrepreneurs like her. She is asking for her first loan to buy seeds, fertiliser, compost, and a cow. She needs the cow to calf in order to milk it and sell the milk. The goal of this humble mother is to make sure her children finish high school, something almost unheard of in her village. She even dares to dream of them going to university one day.
